In 2022, we filled the steps of Parliament with school bags. Each one carried a story of harm, heartbreak and hope. They promised change. We trusted them. They lied. Now we’re coming back. We are joining forces with Accountability for Children in Education in Western Australia for another visual protest on the steps of Parliament house on 20/11/2025.
This is an accessible, visual protest – a public installation made up of hundreds of school bags and stories. Our team will safely set up and manage the display on behalf of everyone taking part. You don’t need to be there to be part of it. Anyone, anywhere, can contribute their story and bag in advance.
To take part make a $5 donation to using the Make a Donation button and send us your bag tag using the Send Your Bag Tag Message button. Or drop off your bag and tag at a collection point – contact us for one near you.
When the protest ends, all bags will be donated to a charity supporting children and families.

On November 24th, 2022, Square Peg Round Whole and Accountability for Children in Education WA joined forces to protest for change within the Western Australian Education system.
Over 500 school bags were placed at the steps of the Western Australian parliament house. Each bag carried a powerful message, tagged with real stories from students, parents, educators, therapists, and specialists. Their stories of their experiences under the WA Department of Education points to a concerning pattern of systemic abuse perpetrated by educators and institutions.
As we reflect on these stories, we emphasis the urgency for change. We must address the long-lasting harm inflicted on children with disabilities. This calls for explicit policies, open discussions, and a firm commitment to action from both educators and institutions.
Every child's educational journey should be safe, supportive, and empowering.
