Submission to the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) with Response to the Final Report

On February 9th, 2024 we submitted our response on the Final Report to the Disability Royal Commission. We unequivocally reject the position that inclusive education can occur in segregated systems, and hold that whilst we continue to isolate, other, segregate, devalue and deny disabled people, it remains impossible to address the devastatingly widespread neglect, abuse, exploitation, and violence against this community.

Submission to the WA Education and Health Standing Committee for the Inquiry into support for autistic children and young people in schools

On the 12th of July 2023 the WA Education and Standing Committee received our submission for the Inquiry into support for autistic children and young people in schools. We called out that support for autistic students in WA schools is lacking due to current practices of segregation and integration instead of inclusion, the use of behavioural practices, over-representation of students in exclusionary discipline figures, informal segregation and removal either from school grounds or in the classroom, and ableism and inaccessibility. We affirmed out stance on fully inclusive schools and trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and culturally responsive approaches such as Collaborative Proactive Solutions.
